Skiing/Riding is for EVERYONE

STRIDE offers adaptive ski and snowboard lessons at 3 mountain resorts in New England: Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, MA; Catamount Mountain in Hillsdale, NY; and new for 2022-23  Titus Mountain in Malone NY.  Our volunteer coaches teach over 3,000 annual lessons during the winter to individuals with developmental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities. Private adaptive lessons are offered for 2.5 hours and include specialized equipment / rentals. Lessons run from November to April for mono-ski, bi-ski, ski-bike, visual or hearing impaired, 2-track intellectual disabilities, 3-track, 4-track  and adaptive snowboarding. Advanced reservations are required! STRIDE is an official PSIA-E member school as well as a member of Move United, a Paralympic Sports Club, and Special Olympics Training Club.

How to Book a Lesson

Each mountain program has a slightly different registration process, please find details below. Lesson fees are paid to the Mountain resorts not STRIDE; we are volunteers! The costs for private lessons, equipment and lift tickets are highly discounted by each mountain.


Jiminy Peak Adaptive Program

For nearly 30 years, the Adaptive program at Jiminy Peak has provided ski and snowboard lessons to individuals of all ages with physical, intellectual or developmental disabilities. Our Adaptive volunteer coaches are PSIA-trained to assess, equip and teach one-to-one to meet specific goals, abilities and learning styles. We welcome individuals of all abilities!

Book a lesson:

Register online by completing the STRIDE registration form and liability waivers before making a reservation with STRIDE.

Reservation requests are online, a registration link will be available late November, early December.

Please allow up to 5 business days to receive a confirmation email of your reservation request. A link to pay for your reservation will be sent with the confirmation email.

WHEN:  
Monday – Wednesday Nights 6PM – 8:30 PM; Saturday /Sunday  9AM–11:30AM & 1 PM–3:30 PM Holiday weeks M-F  AM or PM * by special request & not guaranteed

Cancellation Policy: You must give at least 24 hour notice.   The STRIDE Administrative office is closed on weekends. To cancel a reservation in emergency, please call Snowsport Desk at: Jiminy Peak @ (413) 738-5500 Ext. #5120. 

COST:  $70 for a 2.5 hr. private lesson;
$130 for a morning and afternoon lesson;
$330 for 5 pre-paid lessons
$40 – Accompanying shadow pass valid for one shadow per participant, only valid for duration of lesson.

All lessons include lift and adaptive and standard rental ski/snowboard equipment, and helmet, as needed.

**Financial assistance through the STRIDE David H. Clark Memorial Fund helps families in need of financial assistance to fully participate in STRIDE’s activities or related activities.

Catamount Adaptive Program

Where: Catamount Ski Area, Hillsdale NY

When: December – April, Saturdays and Sundays from 9-11:30 am; 1-3:30 pm

Cost: $70 Adaptive Lesson Package
$40 – accompanying shadow pass valid for one shadow per participant, only valid for duration of lesson.

For participation in Catamount Adaptive Lesson program:

Register with STRIDE by completing the STRIDE registration form and liability waivers prior to making a reservation.

Titus Mountain Adaptive Program

Where: Titus Mountain, Malone, NY

When: January – April, Saturdays from 9:30 -12:00 am; 1-3:30 pm; Sunday afternoons 1-3:30pm

**2022-23 is a brand new program, therefore no guarantees.  Sit lessons will be very limited until coaches are trained.

Cost: Adaptive Lesson Package – $70;
$40 – accompanying shadow pass valid for one shadow per participant, only valid for duration of lesson.

For participation in Titus Mountain Adaptive Lesson program:

Register with STRIDE by completing the STRIDE registration form and liability waivers prior to making a reservation.
