Volunteers

Without volunteers, STRIDE wouldn’t be here!

We are fortunate to work with over 500 volunteers including sports instructors, college interns, event staff, office professionals, corporate volunteer teams, civic organizations and more! The process to be vetted for working with children includes registration, a criminal background check, and a mandatory SafeSport protection course, which should take you no more than 90 minutes. Consecutive volunteer years will take less than 30 minutes. But it is WORTH it!!  Once you start – it is hard not to come back year after year!

We are always accepting volunteers, you are what make these programs possible!

All volunteers have to go through a vetting process consisting consisting of the following:

  1. Fill out a registration form as a volunteer
  2. Sign liability waivers
  3. Fill out a background check request. This can be paid for by you as a donation to STRIDE, or we can pay for it for you.
  4. Any adult 18 or older: Complete the Safe Sport course required by New York State law. Again, this can be paid for by you as a donation to STRIDE, or we can pay for it for you.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact STRIDE Program Director Carly Ronan to express interest and receive the links for a background check and Safe Sport training – cronan@stride.org

The most rewarding experience an athlete, volunteer or sponsor will ever find…. register with STRIDE today!

STRIDE often hires local college interns for credit or community service hours. STRIDE interns learn about non-profit management, therapeutic recreation services, business management, research in the field of adaptive sports or business administration.
