Each year, STRIDE invites up to 10 ‘new’ to STRIDE disabled veterans (Post 09/11) to participate in this GATEWAY event to adaptive sports. Along with many Alumni veterans serving as mentors, the group is treated to a long weekend vacation of skiing, riding and adaptive activities with their families at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. The veterans are honored on Friday night celebration dinner before being transported to Jiminy Peak for the weekend of skiing/riding.
STRIDE’s philosophy is to introduce veterans to adaptive sports and to ask them to join STRIDE’s Warrior community to become involved in organizations that serve, such as STRIDE. Healing comes through giving – and we invite the Warriors to serve in many of our other sport programs throughout the year as mentors or volunteers to youth with similar disabilities.
2022 Wounded Warrior Snowfest was a huge success in a new, Covid-adapted format where the Welcome Ceremony was hosted at the STRIDE SHARE Center followed by a small catered dinner. Fourteen Warriors and their families spent a fabulous adaptive weekend together!
