Dates for 2008

This is one of STRIDE's most popular programs.   A current application, including a valid credit card # must be on file to register for this program.  Sign up for one, two, three or all for weekends of camping.

In the fall of 1990, a group of eight campers and a dozen volunteers spent a weekend in tents, and Camp STRIDE was born. The success of the skiing program paved the way for a warm-weather activity, and the camping trips have been hugely popular ever since. Currently, camping comprises four separate weekend trips each summer at both Thompson's Lake and Moreau Lake, and includes as many as 40-50 campers and volunteers in a single weekend. Weekends are chosen for June, July, August, and September.Archery

Campers must register in advance by calling the STRIDE office at 518-598-1279, after having an application on file at the STRIDE office. Weekend trips at these NY State Parks include fun activities such as archery, beach activities, swimming, canoeing, sailing, volleyball, ghost stories and food, lots of food!

photo of campersChildren supply their own sleeping bag, flashlight, and wardrobe for the weekend, while STRIDE volunteers are paired one to one with each camper. All tents and camping gear are provided by STRIDE. Parents drop off their child Friday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to the nurturing care of our volunteer staff, and pick them up on Sunday between 12 noon and 1 p.m. We fully believe in promoting independence for the children while providing respite for families.

For camp reservations, please call Debbie at the STRIDE office at: 518-598-1279 or email debersold@stride.org
