David H. and Marisa Clark Memorial Fund

David H. Clark (1964-2002) was a vital member of the STRIDE family and a life force since 1988. He served in many leadership roles, including ski instructor, camp counselor, Executive Board member, and Chairperson for the Masquerade Ball Fundraiser. Dave was selected as STRIDE ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in 1995. His life was cut short in 2002 in a diving accident, and STRIDE established the David H. Clark Memorial Fund in his memory.

Three short years later his wife, Marisa Clark passed away after a short 8 month battle with cancer.  She spent countless hours volunteering at the Masquerade Ball, The Great Race, and the Golf Tournament. Nearly everyone in STRIDE knew Marisa for her warm heart and incredible strength. Marisa was also selfless, even in the planning of her own funeral. In lieu of flowers, she asked her friends and family to donate to STRIDE. In fear of diminishing her husbands memory, she asked that her name was not added to the memorial fund. We lost Marisa in 2006. Over ten years later we would like to recognize Marisa and put her name in its rightful place, next to her beloved husband’s in our memorial fund.

While they were with us, the loving couple went above and beyond to help STRIDE become what it is today. While they are not with us any longer, their spirit lives on through the people of STRIDE who knew them, and this memorial fund that continues to do the work they no longer can.

The purpose of the David H. and Marisa Clark Memorial Fund is to provide financial assistance for children enrolled in STRIDE’s programs as additional means to fully participate in activities. Athletes may apply for funding for ski lessons, or bike camp which has associated fees. Awards from the fund may also be used to send children to special events such as race camps, conferences, class trips, or for equipment purchases beyond the role that STRIDE typically provides.

STRIDE often helps families that may not be able to fully participate, by giving them financial assistance to use and enjoy our activities.
