On
September 19th, 2008 Camp STRIDE welcomed more than 30 people to a
unique mentorship program which formed friendships between STRIDE Youth
Athletes and Wounded Warriors. Although the group was brought together
by their disabilities, nothing held them back in tackling the sports and
recreation opportunities throughout the weekend!

STRIDE, who typically serves children with disabilities, wanted a chance to say thank you to disabled American vets who made incredible personal sacrifices for our country. STRIDE, along with the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Program invited veterans to join their trained staff at Jiminy Peak in an all-expense paid weekend of ski lessons, fun, social experiences, and camaraderie. STRIDE provided the benefits of skiing and snowboarding experience to these heroes. Wounded and disabled soldiers and Marines fight even tougher battles here at home as they struggle to adjust to their newfound circumstances and post-war life. Giving these hero's an experience to accomplish new sport skills regardless of their disabilities is one way we thank them for all they've given to our country.
