David H. Clark (1964-2002) was an active member of the STRIDE family and a life force since 1988. He served in many Volunteer Leadership roles to the organization, including ski instructor, camp counselor, Executive Board member, and Chairperson for the Masquerade Ball Fundraiser. Dave was selected as STRIDE 'Volunteer of the Year' in 1995. When his life was cut short in 2002, in a diving accident, the STRIDE family suffered a tragic loss. STRIDE was very close to Dave's heart. We have established the David H. Clark Memorial Fund
with the money that is being donated, in his memory. The Memorial Fund The purpose of the David H. Clark Memorial Fund is to provide financial assistance for children already enrolled in STRIDE’s program, to provide additional means to fully participate in STRIDE’s activities or related activities. For example, children may apply for awards to fund their participation in STRIDE’s ski program, which has a fee paid to the mountains. Awards from the fund may also be used to send children to other events such as race camps, conferences, class trips, or for equipment purchases, beyond the role that STRIDE typically provides. STRIDE often helps families who have children in our programs that may not be able to fully participate, by giving them financial assistance to use and enjoy our activities. The fund will also serve to send children to other events such as race camps, conferences, or purchase equipment, beyond the role which STRIDE can provide. Dave would have been truly happy to know how he has helped in this endeavor, and we can preserve his memory this way. We hank you for your valuable contribution!
A committee has been formed to oversee the application process for disbursement and collection for the award. Mr. Michael Diacovo, Ms. Shelly Brown and Ms. Mary Sapp, friends of both the late Mr. Dave Clark and Mrs. Marisa Clark, oversee the committee. To apply for this special funding, please download and submit this application form. (the applicant should be a registered participant in our programs with a maximum age of 21). Receipts for expenditures will be required if funded. Awards will be based on financial need of the applicant. A full or partial award may be made based on the applicant's need and relevance to our program criteria. Requests will be reviewed at monthly Board meetings.
