White Water Rafting:
a group of STRIDE Athletes will meet in North Creek, New York at
9:15 to maneuver the rapids of the upper Hudson River. Due to the
massive amount of snow runoff this year, White Water Challengers have
requested kids between ages 12-21 who are more physically able, and
can swim should attend. If you are interested, please call the STRIDE
office at 518-598-1279 or email Debbie at
debersold@stride.org for registration. A current STRIDE
application and credit card number must be on file.

STRIDE Classic Golf Tournament - A long fairway of fun and friendship as the 5th annual STRIDE Classic
Golf tournament tee’s off at The Country Club of Troy. This year’s fundraising event promises to be
the best one yet. Fun, food, prizes and a lot of Golfing is going on. Cost: $150 per person. For more information

Capital District Bike Camp- Partnering with Down Syndrome Resource Center and Albany Chapter of the Autism Society of America, STRIDE is developing a program in the Capital District for kids with special needs to learn how to ride a bike. Each camper will be assigned one session and it will be the same session for five consecutive days. Hudson Valley Community College will be our host venue for the camp. The program can potentially handle up to 40 participants to learn to ride within the restraints of the week camp, and we fully expect to fill the program. Volunteers are needed!! Saratoga and Lake George Sailing Begins in Classroom: 6-8:00pm, STRIDE office STRIDE offers classroom-learning before boarding our rigged sloops for a weekend of fantastic sailing to experience the push of the wind. A one-of- a-kind curriculum, STRIDE offers the chance to learn to sail rigged sloops, after five weeks of indoor classroom instruction followed by a weekend of sailing at YMCA's Camp Chingachgook on Lake George, NY. Classes are held at the STRIDE office in the Rensselaer Community Center, during the summer evenings, with format provided by the "Start Sailing Right" manual of the American Red Cross and U.S. Sailing. Individual learning needs are addressed, and boats are adapted to meet the needs of every child. Mr. LJ Whitney is Captain of this program. 9/19-21, 2008: (Friday - Sunday) Moreau State Park-Wounded Warrior Fall Family Retreat
Due to the overwhelming success of our Wounded Warrior Snowsports Event we have add another event- Camping! This unique experience will not only be a fun-filled camping retreat, but will have a dual purpose for therapeutic collaboration between Soldiers / Marines/Veterans who have sustained injuries and/or disabilities to mentor our STRIDE youth athletes who also have special needs. Activities may include: kayaking, swimming, canoeing, archery and whitewater rafting while you are with us. Your meals and general camping gear all will be provided.
